Companion Animal Behavior Connection

What Is Companion Animal Behavior Connection?

Companion Animal Behavior Connection (CABC) is a non-profit network of Pacific Northwest behavior specialists.  We offer a source of professional information about how to deal with the behavior problems and training of companion animals: dogs, cats, parrots, and any of the animals with which we surround ourselves and consider our companions.

We provide resources in two ways: we maintain a list of regional animal behavior specialists who have achieved and currently maintain professional certification in their field, either Veterinary Board Certification in Behavior, certification as a Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT), or certification as an Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB).  More information about these certification programs is available under our Frequently Asked Questions section.  The FAQ section also contains information about how our professionals can help you with pet behavior problems, including what to expect during an appointment with a behavior professional.

A second resource that the CABC has established is an education program. Our behavior professionals would be happy to work with your group or school to design a presentation on any aspect of companion animal behavior, bite prevention, careers in companion animal behavior, the role of companion animals in health care, or many other topics.  See our Educational Programs web page for a sample of prepared topics from past presentations, but remember that we would be happy to tailor our presentations to your audience.  We are also involved in veterinary continuing education, as well as training at the college and university level, and scientific research in companion and wild animal behavior.
